Case Study: Future-Proofing HHS.gov

Experience level:
Beginner
Session Track:

Business and Strategy

The purpose of this track is two-fold - one angle helps you to understand the advantages of Drupal from an organizational leadership angle and the other is to highlight the great Drupal sites and projects you're working on and to show what's possible. These sessions are business focused, and will be non-technical.

Over the past few years, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began its journey to future-proof its content and modernize its website. What began as an effort to create structured content, blossomed into a complete overhaul of HHS.gov to incorporate a mobile-first design and migrate to Drupal in the cloud.

Join us for this panel discussion, where members of the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA) Digital Communications Division (DCD) and Aquilent teams will discuss the details of the redesign effort, codenamed “Project H.” With its first major release planned for May 2015, learn how the team successfully navigated this multi-phased project and developed the all-new HHS.gov. Topics to be discussed, include:

  • Content Strategy
  • Evaluating CMS Platforms
  • Attaining Leadership Buy-In
  • Mobile-First Approach & Responsive Design
  • Content Migration Methodology
  • Highly Available & Scalable Infrastructure
