Using Drupal to Build the VA App Store

Experience level:
Intermediate
Session Track:

Business and Strategy

The purpose of this track is two-fold - one angle helps you to understand the advantages of Drupal from an organizational leadership angle and the other is to highlight the great Drupal sites and projects you're working on and to show what's possible. These sessions are business focused, and will be non-technical.

Speaker(s):

Donna Rodriguez is a Web Manager at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She will discuss the trials and tribulations of building the public VA App Store. This year's journey began with changing our Drupal architecture, getting our environments set up correctly, refining our App Store design, and getting our template mobile responsive. Last year, VA settled on building its App Store in Drupal – the same CMS platform that was used to launch VA’s first Drupal-built website – http://mobile.va.gov – in May 2013. The goal of the VA App Store is to create a seamless, online user experience for Veterans, their Caregivers and VA Providers to drive adoption of VA Mobile Apps. The session continues the VA’s App Store journey, covers the Drupal modules used and the lessons learned along the way. This session allows you to contribute to the process of continual improvement. VA wants to hear your feedback before National launch dates!
