With 12 other government employees Kirsten founded Drupal4Gov way way back in the ancient past of 2009 to empower Government employees to learn and cooperate on open source technologies.
Drupal4Gov hosts in person events in DC for Drupal Global Training Day as well as webinars and Drupal GovCon. Drupal GovCon is an annual Drupal Camp in DC which has been held since 2011. All Drupal4Gov events are open to the public and provided free of charge. We shape most of our work around Drupal but do look to open all government agencies and employees to the use and contribution to open source projects.
In 2017, Drupal4Gov became an llc and submitted its application for non-profit status. Kirsten currently serves as the President of the Drupal4gov, llc non profit and the team is in the planning process for upcoming Drupal Global Training days, webinars, Gov Summit at Drupalcon, the annual meeting and annual Drupal GovCon event as well as other programming.
Kirsten has been drupaling since 2008 starting out on D5 with UnionReview. Kirsten is a tradeunionist, 2nd generation Finnish-American, single mom of an adult daughter who teaches abroad. Kirsten currently works for the US Department of State as a web developer. Kirsten resides in Maryland and yes, she really does loathe the 90 minute commute to work.
