Getting an Analyst Off Your Back (and into the dataLayer)

In a perfect world, requests are well-defined, there is no project creep, and those pesky analysts stop asking to add more tracking code. While I have no control over the first two, I will show you one surefire way to get those analysts to focus more on analytic-y stuff and less on bugging you.

Enter tag manager and the dataLayer. In this session, I will will walk you through the implementation and use of each. While this is a technical session about analytics tracking, it also demonstrates the analysts' perspective: sessions vs hits, events vs pageviews, and APIs like customTask.

You may or may not want to be the manager of a tag manager solution but at the very least you will learn the ins-and-outs of it and how it can make your life easier.
