Drupal GovCon is entirely run by volunteers. There’s a role for everyone—writing content, site development, project management, and more. Help a little or a lot (before or during the conference).

Volunteer opportunities

Roles & duties

Below are roles the team actively looks to fill. If you have a specific idea, reach out directly.

Equipment Coordinator

  • Help ensure event equipment is purchased (adapters, stanchions, etc.).
  • Help track equipment so nothing is lost or misplaced.

Room Monitor

  • Check in at Helpdesk 5–10 minutes before sessions.
  • Take a gender count 15 minutes into the session.
  • Turn headcount in to the helpdesk.

Accessibility Coordinator

  • Attend walkthroughs to ensure spaces are accessible.
  • Help ensure ASL translation is available if needed.
  • Work with design on maps that show accessible routes.
  • Coordinate with attendees needing accessibility services.

Help Desk

  • Arrive 5–10 minutes before your shift.
  • Answer questions; collect Lost & Found items.
  • Help attendees find rooms using the conference guide.

Registration

  • Check attendees in using the online system.
  • Distribute badges.
  • Provide t-shirt ticket and directions for pickup.

Keynote Support

  • Ensure speakers are in place after arrival.
  • Confirm equipment is functioning and usable.
  • Coordinate with sound booth as needed.
  • Cue speakers when time is running low.

Signage

  • Help assemble and place signage throughout the venue.
  • Comfortable carrying moderately heavy items.

Scholarship Reviewer

  • Review scholarship submissions.
  • Attend meetings organized by the Scholarship Lead.

Clean Up Crew

  • Remove signage.
  • Help ensure the exhibit area is broken down.

Lunch Support

  • Check that attendees have badge + confirmation sticker/icon.
  • Share lunch logistics (portions/drinks) with the lines.
  • Direct anyone without a badge to the help desk.

Session Reviewer

  • Review session submissions (Sessionize).
  • Attend meetings organized by the Session Review Lead.

Event Photographer

  • Take photos throughout the event.
