Does your site take more than 3 seconds to load? If you answered yes, you’ve already lost 53% of your visitors, according to Google research.
When we migrated HHS.gov to Drupal in 2015, we reimagined our site to be responsive and user-focused to help people get the information they need quickly and easily.
However, a recent report on U.S. Government websites highlighted that many websites, including ours, were not performing as fast as needed to meet user demands. We immediately began a comprehensive review of the page load speed of HHS.gov and identified a list of action items for optimizing and improving the site. This was a big task, as there are multiple factors that affect the page load time.
Our goal was to reduce the average time a page is loaded to 2 seconds or less. Did we make it? Come to our session to find out what we did and get takeaways you can apply to your projects and sites.
