I'm a consultant/contractor for the State of New York, who has standardized on Drupal this year.  As our WebNY team is developing sites, a distribution and ultimately use Acquia Site Factory, I keep thinking we're inventing a wheel that everyone else is inventing.  Why are we not talking to other states?  As we step on the proverbial land mines of building Drupal sites in scale, there should be a way to plant flags so the next group doesn't need to make the same mistakes.

I'm hoping this informal chat over lunch will result in some on-going communications as we move forward (Google Group?).
