Building More Accessibile Content with Drupal 8

Presenters: mgifford

Drupal 8 was released in December and it provides by default accessibility that is head and shoulders above any other CMS. For the last 8 years we have been working on implementing defaults that are good for everyone.

If you are looking at upgrading to Drupal 8, there are lots of “accessibility goodies” that we’ve built in that you will want to incorporate. Mike will highlight some of those in the presentation, but primarily will be looking at how we can improve the quality of the content produced by content authors and how the W3C's Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG) can help.

Training content authors over and over again about accessibility is expensive. How can the content framework be used to produce better content? What are the benefits of this for people with and without disabilities?

The talk will highlight some best practices that have been incorporated in Drupal 8 and exploring where future modules could help ensure that sites meet the ADA.

By attending this presentation you’ll get a better understanding of ATAG 2.0, Drupal 8’s accessibility features and the advantages for your team.
