The Forgotten Task of the Product Owner: Feature Value Monitoring (or, The suprising way in which one Product Owner faced site bloat and won!)

Presenters: Barrett

Session Recording: https://youtu.be/WwuccGKnQHI

According to the Scrum Guide, "The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Development Team." In order to do this, it is essential that the Product Owner (PO) be able to determine the value of any given piece of work. Most PO's are able and conditioned to do this when grooming tickets but too often, once features are deployed, the monitoring and evaulation of them stops. This can lead to less valuable work being slated subsequently and site bloat as unused features accumulate over time.

Taking inspiration from How to Measure Anything and The Phoenix Project, this session will discuss:

  • Why post-deployment feature value monitoring is necessary, and why it's especially so in Drupal 8.
  • Tools and techniques to quantify the value of your site features.
