Getting Beyond Pages: Better Metaphors Make for Better Websites

jjosephmiller

Web content is broken. But it's not our ideas that are the problem. It's our metaphors. Too often, we're trapped by conventions from the world of print.

It's evident in the word processing tools we still use to create content. It's evident in the language we use to describe our sites—pages, and tabs, and accordions. And it's evident in the WYSIWYG editors and live previews that we demand our CMSs include. These metaphors cripple Drupal and create unsustainable work for our teams. This session offers a new metaphor for thinking about web content, a metaphor drawn from the world of art. A metaphor that can unleash the power of Drupal and set your content on a path toward a better experience for your users and a more sustainable path for your authors.
