Recent events have put a spotlight on Drupal community governance, the role of the Drupal Association, power and influence, and all procedures within. Even more concerning is the amount of misinformation, fabrications, and assumptions made by many. Before calling for change, it is important to be educated on the existing model, and some of the history of how we got here.
In this session, I will outline the current models that govern Drupal software contributions, the Drupal Association, and community matters. This includes events, worldwide camps and cons; the Community Working Group, which handles Code of Conduct issues and conflict resolution; Dries Buytaert's role and scope of powers; and general policies and procedures.
Time permitting, I'd like to discuss which parts of the current governance work well, which have room for improvement, and perhaps make a proposal or two.
