"Reach Out, I’ll Be There" - Earning Trust & Building Collaboration with your Product Owner

akaroleff

A successful Agile project requires a dedicated ScrumMaster, a capable Development Team, and an empowered Product Owner (PO) -- someone who is a subject matter expert, understands the user base, can make prioritization decisions, is available when needed, and is empowered to own the product direction.

The roles of ScrumMaster and Product Owner provide an element of balance for the team. In this talk, we will examine the importance of building collaboration between these roles, establishing trust throughout the team, and understanding the PO role so this person can be given freedom to effectively guide the project. We’ll end by examining the PO role in a recent federal project and how an agile process can specifically benefit government agencies.

You’ll learn:

  • Roles and responsibilities of each member of a Scrum Team

  • Deep dive into the role and ideal attributes of an effective PO

  • How the ScrumMaster and PO can collaborate and support each other

  • How the PO of a recent federal project prepared for their role

  • Top 5 challenges of being a PO on a federal project

  • Primary benefits of using Agile on government projects
