Marc has been working with and around free and open source software for almost two decades as a technologist, attorney, and manager. Currently Marc is lucky enough to wear two different hats at CivicActions where is he a compliance engineer and in-house counsel. He gets to work with an awesome team of DevOps engineers to implement automated systems for big and small government agencies. Despite his law degree they occasionally trust him write a little bit of code every once and a while.

Prior to joining the team at CivicActions Marc work as a technology manager and systems architect for over 15 years at the University of Connecticut. While leading a team of technologists and business analysts supporting a wide range of systems and customers, Marc also responsible for managing relationships (and contracts) with external vendors. In addition to his technology experience Marc was also a staff attorney and an attorney-fellow at the Software Freedom Law Center, a boutique law firm focused on free and open source software licenses and providing legal representation to free and open source developers. Marc has provide advice to range of organizations including state and federal agencies to fortune 100 companies and prominent open source projects.

Marc graduated summa cum laude from Quinnipiac University School of Law where he was a Linda Ilkowitz Scholar and a member of the Quinnipiac Law Review Editorial Board. In addition to his law degree Marc also has a Certificate in Data Protection Practice from the Law Society of Ireland and holds certifications as both a CISSP and a CIPP/US. Marc has previously spoken at prominent free and open source conferences including the Software Freedom Law Center's Annual Conference and FOSDEM.
