The waterfall is drying up: How Agile procurement makes better software

Presenters: jheaster, marcjones

From down in the trenches of a multi-year US government software project, to a bird’s-eye view of the entire federal contracting landscape, we’ll take you on a tour of what’s going wrong with government contracts and how they are causing inferior software to be created. We’ll cover how the basic waterfall contract structure can cripple software projects from the start, then we’ll examine solutions like TechFAR that have been gaining momentum recently. We’ll explain how a government contract can be properly crafted to support a successful Agile project.

This session is geared towards both IT architects and contracting officers, vendors and others who are required to work within the confines of current federal acquisition regulations but find the current system frustrating and constraining.
